A Street Accident

Street accidents have become an everyday event in our country. Last Friday, I witnessed a terrible one in front of my school while I was returning home. It was about one o'clock in the afternoon and the road was crowded with people and vehicles. Suddenly a speeding bus was trying to overtake a truck. At that moment, a rickshaw carrying two passengers was crossing the road. The bus driver failed to control the vehicle and hit the rickshaw hard. The rickshaw was smashed and the passengers were thrown onto the road. Hearing the loud noise, people rushed to the spot. The driver of the bus tried to flee but the angry crowd caught him. Some of us took the injured passengers to the nearby hospital in a CNG-run auto-rickshaw. The doctors said that one of them was seriously injured and the other had minor wounds. Soon the police arrived and took the driver away. The sight of the blood-stained road still haunts me. Reckless driving, overloading and ignoring traffic rules are the main causes of such accidents. If drivers and pedestrians follow the rules, we can avoid these tragic incidents.
