My Favourite Game

Introduction
Games and sports keep us fit and cheerful. Among the many games, my favourite is cricket. It is the most popular game in our country today, and I love it from the core of my heart.

Origin and rules
Cricket first began in England and later spread across the world. It is played between two teams, each of eleven players. The game is played on a large oval field with a pitch at the centre. Each side takes turns to bat and bowl, and the team that scores more runs wins. Two umpires control the game.

Why I like it
I like cricket because it needs skill, intelligence and team spirit. A batsman has to face the ball carefully, a bowler has to plan his attack, and the fielders must be alert all the time. The excitement of a close match, with every ball changing the result, keeps me glued to the field or the television.

Benefits
Playing cricket makes the body strong and active. It teaches us discipline, patience and cooperation. It also teaches us to accept both victory and defeat in a sportsmanlike manner.

Popularity in Bangladesh
Cricket has become very popular in our country, especially after the success of our national team in international matches. Boys and girls of both towns and villages now play it in open fields and even on streets.

Conclusion
Cricket is not only a game but also a source of joy and unity for the nation. I play it with my friends every afternoon, and I hope to see Bangladesh win many more big trophies.
