A Tea Stall

A tea stall is a small roadside shop where tea is made and sold to customers. It is a common sight in our country. Almost every street corner, bus stand, market and railway station has one or more tea stalls. A tea stall is usually a small shed with a few benches or stools for the customers. Besides tea, many other things are sold here. People can buy biscuits, bread, cakes, bananas, eggs and sometimes even simple snacks like singara and samosa. Some stalls also sell cigarettes and betel leaves. Tea is available with milk or without milk, and also with lemon. People come to take tea at all times of the day, but the stall is especially crowded in the morning and in the afternoon. Rickshaw-pullers, students, office-goers and shopkeepers sit here to relax and have a cup of tea. They chat about politics, sports, current affairs and many other topics. Sometimes the discussions become so hot that the place looks like a parliament. That is why a tea stall is often called a "Mini Sangsad". It is also a means of living for many poor people.
