A School Library

A school library is a room in a school where a large collection of books, magazines and newspapers is kept for the students and teachers. It plays an important role in our education. Our school library is a big, well-lit room on the ground floor. It has many shelves full of textbooks, storybooks, dictionaries, encyclopedias and books on science, history and literature. There is a long reading table with chairs where students can read quietly. A librarian takes care of the books and keeps a record of those that are borrowed. Students can borrow books for a week and must return them in time. In the library we have to keep silence and keep the books clean. Reading in the library improves our vocabulary, widens our knowledge and develops the habit of reading. It also helps us prepare better for our exams and keeps us away from bad habits. A good library is, therefore, the heart of a school, and every school should have a well-equipped one.
