Load Shedding

Load shedding means the deliberate cutting of the supply of electricity in some areas when the demand for power is higher than the supply. It has become a part of our daily life in Bangladesh. The main reason is that the production of electricity is not enough to meet the growing demand of the people, the factories and the farms. Sometimes the shortage of gas and fuel, old power plants and faulty distribution systems also make the problem worse. Load shedding causes great suffering to all classes of people. Students cannot study properly at night, and housewives find it difficult to do their household work. The production of mills and factories falls, and businessmen suffer heavy losses. Patients in hospitals also suffer a lot. To solve the problem, the government should set up new power plants and repair the old ones. It should also increase the use of renewable energy such as solar power. We, too, should use electricity carefully and avoid wastage. If everyone takes proper steps, we can overcome this problem and enjoy an uninterrupted power supply.
