There lived a hare and a tortoise in the same jungle. The hare used to taunt the tortoise for its slow pace. One day he challenged the tortoise in a race. The tortoise calmly accepted the challenge. The next morning all the animals gathered to watch the race. The fox gave the signal and the hare darted off at great speed. Soon he left the tortoise far behind. Feeling very sure of winning, he stopped under a tree and fell asleep. Meanwhile, the tortoise kept walking slowly but steadily without stopping. When the hare woke up, he saw the tortoise very close to the finishing line. He ran as fast as he could, but it was too late. The tortoise won the race, and the hare felt deeply ashamed. The moral is: slow and steady wins the race.
