Rule: "not easy" is replaced by its opposite "difficult" to make an affirmative sentence.

(d) Those who are idle always lag behind.
Rule: The subject "the idle" is changed into a noun clause/relative clause with "those who".

(e) We must work hard to earn money.
Rule: "so that we can" is reduced to "to + verb".

(f) We can work hard and improve our lot.
