Environment Pollution

Environment pollution means the contamination of air, water and soil by harmful substances. It has become one of the biggest problems of the modern world, and Bangladesh is badly affected. The main causes are the smoke of mills, factories and old vehicles, the dumping of industrial waste and household garbage into rivers, the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, and the cutting of trees. Noise from horns and machines is another kind of pollution, especially in cities like Dhaka. Polluted air causes asthma, lung diseases and eye problems, while polluted water spreads cholera, diarrhoea and typhoid. The rivers around Dhaka have become almost dead because of tannery and factory waste. Pollution also harms fish, birds and other animals, and it adds to global warming and climate change. To protect our environment, we must plant more trees and keep our surroundings clean. Factories should treat their waste before releasing it, and old vehicles that emit black smoke should be banned. The government must enforce environmental laws strictly. Above all, people should be made aware through the media, schools and campaigns. If everybody takes part, we can save the environment for ourselves and for future generations.
