Tree Plantation

Tree plantation means planting saplings in a planned way so that they grow into trees. We should plant trees because they give us oxygen, fruits, timber and shade, and they keep the air clean. Trees prevent soil erosion, bring rainfall and protect us from floods and storms. They also reduce global warming by absorbing carbon dioxide. The best time to plant trees is the rainy season, from June to August, when the soil is moist and saplings grow easily. We can plant trees on roadsides, riverbanks, school and college grounds, hill slopes and in empty spaces around our homes. After planting, we should water the saplings regularly, protect them with fences from cattle and children, and apply manure when necessary. The government should launch tree plantation campaigns, supply free saplings, make strict laws against illegal tree felling and raise public awareness through the media. If everyone takes part, our country will become greener and healthier.
