Students and Social Services

Introduction
Students are the future leaders of a nation. Besides studying hard, they can play a significant role in the development of society through different social services. Social service means doing good to others without expecting any return.

Fields of Social Services
Students can serve society in many ways. They can run night schools and teach illiterate people in their locality. They can organise campaigns to make people aware of health, hygiene, sanitation and the danger of drugs. During natural disasters such as floods, cyclones and fires, they can distribute food, clothes and medicine among the victims. They can plant trees, keep their surroundings clean and take part in blood donation programmes. Many students also help the poor and the old, and arrange free medical camps in villages.

Benefits of Social Services
Social service teaches students to be honest, kind and responsible. It builds leadership, teamwork and a sense of duty. It brings them closer to the real life of the common people, so they become sympathetic to others' sufferings. Society benefits greatly from their energy, skill and enthusiasm.

Obstacles
Sometimes heavy study pressure, lack of funds and lack of encouragement keep students away from social work.

Conclusion
Students are the most dynamic part of the nation. If they devote a part of their time to social services, our society will become more prosperous and peaceful. So, every student should come forward to serve society along with their studies.
