I'm Shubho. I'm 18 years old. I'm a passionate lover of folk music. I don't mind while my friends call me a melomaniac. I dream to visit different parts of Bangladesh and I want to experience the taste of local folk music of those areas. If I get the opportunity to study at the University of Dhaka, I will take folk music as a part of my co-curricular activity. Therefore I am making up a plan that includes many things. First, I will join the Folk Music Club of the university and take part in its regular practice sessions. Second, I will learn to play traditional instruments such as the ektara and dotara from experienced artists. Third, I will travel to the Baul-rich regions like Kushtia and Sylhet in my semester breaks to listen to local singers and record their songs. Fourth, I will help organise folk music festivals on campus so that my fellow students can enjoy our rich heritage. Finally, I hope to preserve these songs in a digital archive so that they are not lost for future generations.
