Drug Addiction

Drug addiction is the habit of taking harmful drugs regularly and being unable to give them up. It has become a serious social problem in Bangladesh. Young people are the main victims. Many of them start taking drugs out of curiosity, bad company, frustration, unemployment or family problems. The common drugs are heroin, yaba, phensedyl, cannabis and alcohol. Drug addiction ruins health, causing diseases such as liver damage, heart problems and mental disorders. It also weakens the addict's morals and wastes his money and time. To get money for drugs, addicts often steal or commit other crimes, which disturbs peace in society. The family of an addict suffers greatly in pain and poverty. To check this evil, parents should keep watch on their children and give them love and guidance. The government should stop drug smuggling and punish dealers strictly. Addicts need proper treatment and counselling, and media and teachers should raise awareness. If everyone works together, we can save our young generation from this curse.
