(১) Amar Ekushey Book Fair

Amar Ekushey Book Fair is the biggest book fair in Bangladesh. It is organised by the Bangla Academy every year in February at the Bangla Academy premises and Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka. It started in 1972 when Chittaranjan Saha laid its foundation by arranging a few books on a piece of cloth in front of the Central Shaheed Minar. The fair is named after the Language Movement of 21 February 1952 and the title of the song "Amar Bhaiyer Rokte Rangano Ekushey February". Hundreds of publishers set up stalls here, and writers, readers and book lovers of all ages visit it every day. New books are launched on the fair's opening days. Cultural programmes, discussions and poetry recitations are also held on the ground. The fair inspires people to read books and builds the reading habit among the young. It also reminds us of our glorious language movement and honours our martyrs. In short, the Amar Ekushey Book Fair is a festival of books and a pride of our culture.
