Comment on the socio-cultural values reflected in the folk songs of Bangladesh.
উত্তর ও ব্যাখ্যা
(6) Folk songs are the voice of the common people, so they reflect the socio-cultural values of Bangladesh closely. Baul, Bhatiali, Bhawaiya and Jari songs speak of humanism, simple living and spiritual search. Lalon's songs, for example, reject caste and religious divisions and teach that humanity is above everything. Bhatiali and Bhawaiya express the daily struggles of boatmen, farmers and cart-drivers, showing the closeness of rural life to rivers and nature. Songs of love and separation reveal emotional values, while harvest and wedding songs show community bonding and festive spirit. Jari and Gambhira songs often raise social issues like poverty and injustice. Thus folk songs preserve our traditions, tolerance, communal harmony and respect for nature, and pass these values from one generation to the next.
