Make a precis of the following passage:

There is an enemy beneath our feet- an enemy more deadly for her complete impartiality. She recognizes no national boundaries, no political parties and no population groups. Everyone in the world is threatened by her. The enemy is mother earth herself. When an earthquake strikes, the world around us trembles. The power of a quake is greater than anything man can produce. An earthquake strikes without warning. When it does, its power is immense. If it happens in urban areas, the damage is huge, Buildings collapse, bridges fall and gaping cracks appear in busy streets. If the quake strikes at sea, huge tidal waves sweep inland. Earthquakes happen when two large pieces of Earth's crust called tectonic plates suddenly slip. These plates slowly move over a long period of time. It is not possible to predict when an earthquake is due, but scientists today are trying to find some way of fighting earthquakes. It is possible that sometime in the near future mankind will discover a way of protecting itself from earthquakes.
