The Life of a Farmer

A farmer is a person who grows crops and raises animals for a living. Farmers are the backbone of our economy because they feed the whole nation. The life of a farmer is full of hardship. He gets up early in the morning and goes to the field with his plough and cattle. He works hard in the scorching sun and in the heavy rain to sow seeds, water the plants and harvest the crops. His house is generally a small hut made of mud and straw, and he lives a simple life with his family. Most farmers are poor and uneducated, and they often fall into the hands of greedy money-lenders. Natural disasters like floods and droughts sometimes destroy their crops. In spite of all these troubles, a farmer is honest, hardworking and contented. He enjoys the festivals of the harvest season with great joy. We should respect the farmers and take proper steps to improve their standard of living.
