A Street Hawker

A street hawker is a person who sells goods by moving from street to street or by sitting on a footpath. He sells various things such as fruits, vegetables, toys, clothes and snacks. Most hawkers are poor and uneducated, and they come from villages in search of work. They start their day early in the morning and work until late at night. Their income is very small and uncertain, so they hardly manage food and shelter for their families. In summer they suffer from the scorching heat, and in the rainy season they cannot sell much. Sometimes the police drive them away from their places and they lose their goods. Still, hawkers play an important role in our daily life because they supply necessary things at a low price at our doorsteps. We should treat them with respect and sympathy, and the government should arrange proper places and small loans for them.
