ইংরেজি ২য় পত্র প্রশ্ন
What is the difference between a transitive and an intransitive verb?
উত্তর ও ব্যাখ্যা
(8) A transitive verb needs an object to complete its meaning, i.e. the action passes from the subject to an object. An intransitive verb does not need an object; the action stays with the subject.
Transitive: She writes a letter. (writes what? a letter)
Intransitive: The baby sleeps. (no object)
Test: ask 'what?' or 'whom?' after the verb. If there is an answer, the verb is transitive; if not, it is intransitive.
