(2.1) Human Crises in the Present World

The present world is advanced in science and technology, yet humanity faces many serious crises that threaten peace, health and the future of the planet.

One of the greatest crises is war and armed conflict. Wars in different regions have killed thousands of innocent people, destroyed homes and created millions of refugees who live without safety, food or education. Closely related is the problem of poverty and hunger. Despite enormous wealth in the world, a large number of people still go to bed hungry, and the gap between the rich and the poor keeps widening.

Climate change is another grave threat. Rising temperatures, melting glaciers, floods, droughts and cyclones damage crops and force people to leave their homes. Low-lying countries like Bangladesh are especially vulnerable. Health crises, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, have also shown how fragile our systems are and how unequal access to medicine and vaccines can be.

Moral and social crises add to these problems. Corruption, injustice, discrimination, terrorism and the decline of ethical values weaken trust among people. Unemployment and the misuse of technology further disturb the lives of the young.

These crises can be overcome only by joint effort. Nations should resolve disputes peacefully, share resources fairly, protect the environment and invest in education and healthcare. If every individual practises honesty, tolerance and compassion, a more peaceful and humane world can be built.
