The Importance of Good Manners

Good manners are the polite and respectful ways in which we behave towards others. They include speaking softly, greeting elders, being punctual, helping others and respecting the feelings of people around us. A well-mannered person earns love and respect wherever he or she goes. Good manners create a peaceful atmosphere in the family, the school and the workplace, because people who treat each other courteously rarely quarrel. They also play an important role in building a successful career, since employers prefer polite and responsible people. A person with great knowledge but bad manners is hardly admired by society. Therefore, we should practise good manners from childhood, and parents and teachers should set examples for the young.
