Your Visit to a Book Fair

Last month I visited the Amar Ekushey Book Fair at Bangla Academy in Dhaka with my elder brother. The fair is held every February in memory of the language martyrs, and I had long wished to see it. We reached there at about ten in the morning. The whole premises were decorated with colourful festoons, and thousands of book lovers were moving from one stall to another. We first went to the stalls of different publishers and looked at the new arrivals. I bought a collection of poems by Kazi Nazrul Islam, a few story books and a book on general knowledge. Many writers were present at the fair and they signed copies for their readers. I also noticed that a good number of children were buying picture books with their parents. Besides, there was a small stage where discussions on literature were going on. We spent nearly four hours there and took lunch at a food stall. At the end of the day, I returned home tired but very happy. The visit to the book fair was a memorable experience, and it increased my love for reading.
