Patriotism

Patriotism is the noble passion that inspires a person to love, serve, and protect their motherland. It is not merely an emotion, but a deep-seated commitment that urges an individual to place national interests above personal gains. A true patriot works selflessly for the advancement, integrity, and sovereignty of their country and stands ready to make the supreme sacrifice whenever necessary.

History is replete with inspiring examples of patriotism. In Bangladesh, the glorious Liberation War of 1971 stands as an eternal monument to supreme love for the motherland. Millions of heroic freedom fighters laid down their lives to free the nation from oppression and foreign subjugation. Their unmatched sacrifice reminds us that freedom comes at a high price and demands continuous dedication.

In peaceful times, patriotism does not require us to die on the battlefield. Instead, it is reflected in discharging our daily duties honestly, upholding civic responsibilities, eradicating corruption, protecting public property, and fostering social harmony. A farmer tilling the soil, a teacher imparting knowledge, a doctor healing patients, and a student studying sincerely all serve the nation patriotically.

However, patriotism should never degrade into narrow chauvinism or hatred towards other nations. True patriotism respects the freedom and dignity of other countries while passionately defending one's own.

In conclusion, Bangladesh is our beloved homeland, striving hard to achieve overall development and prosperity. To realize the dreams of our martyrs, every citizen must embrace genuine patriotism and work diligently for the progress of the country.
