1. Low wages: They are paid very little, and sometimes only with food and shelter.
2. Long working hours: They often work from early morning till late at night, without proper rest or weekly holidays.
3. Abuse and violence: Many suffer verbal, physical and sometimes sexual abuse by employers, and some cases of torture and death have been reported.
4. No job security: There is generally no written contract, and workers can be dismissed at any time.
5. Lack of education and health care: Child domestic workers are often deprived of schooling and medical care.
6. Weak legal protection: Domestic work is not fully covered by labour law. A Domestic Workers Protection and Welfare Policy (2015) exists, but its enforcement is weak.

To improve the situation, strong laws, registration, fair wages and public awareness are needed.
