Change the speech: She said, "My parents are going to Montreal".

Question

Accepted Answer

গ. She said that her parents were going to Montreal.

ব্যাখ্যা: Direct থেকে Indirect speech-এ reporting verb ‘said’ (past) হলে reported speech-এর tense এক ধাপ পিছিয়ে যায়: present continuous ‘are going’ → past continuous ‘were going’। আবার person বদলায়: ‘My parents’ → ‘her parents’ (বক্তা she)। তাই সঠিক: She said that her parents were going to Montreal. ‘my’ থাকলে ক ভুল, আর ঘ-তে tense বদলায়নি।

**শর্টকাট:** ‘My’ → বক্তার লিঙ্গ অনুযায়ী her/his; are → were।

**একই ধরনের প্রশ্ন:**
১. He said, “My friends are coming.” (Indirect)
*উত্তর:* He said that his friends were coming.
