(৫) William Shakespeare (1564-1616) was an English poet and playwright, born in Stratford-upon-Avon. He is widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and is often called the 'Bard of Avon'. He wrote about 37 plays and 154 sonnets. His famous tragedies include Hamlet, Othello, King Lear and Macbeth; his comedies include A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Romeo and Juliet is a well-known tragic romance. His works are still read and performed all over the world.
