Water Pollution

Water is called life because no living being can survive without it. Human beings, animals and plants all depend on water to live. Yet this precious thing is being polluted every day.

Humans pollute water in many ways. We throw household waste, plastic, rubbish and dead animals into rivers and ponds. Farmers use chemical fertilizers and pesticides which are washed into the water by rain. Oil spilled from launches and ships also pollutes it.

Industrial plants pollute water by releasing toxic chemicals, dyes and waste directly into rivers and canals. Mills and factories such as tanneries and textile mills do this without treating the waste. As a result, water becomes poisonous, fish die and people get diseases.

To prevent water pollution, we should not throw waste into water bodies. Industries must install effluent treatment plants and the government should enforce the law strictly. We should also use fertilizers and pesticides carefully and make people aware of the danger. Therefore, everyone must take part in keeping our water clean.
