The Bad Impacts of Deforestation
Trees are the most important gifts of nature, but deforestation, which means cutting down trees on a large scale, has become a serious problem in Bangladesh. It has many bad impacts on our environment and our life. First, trees give us oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide. When forests are cut down, the amount of carbon dioxide in the air increases, which raises the temperature of the earth and causes global warming. Second, trees hold the soil with their roots. Without trees, the soil is washed away by rain and rivers, and this causes soil erosion and floods. Third, forests are the homes of birds and wild animals. When the forests are destroyed, many of them lose their shelter and some species are on the verge of extinction. Fourth, trees bring rainfall. Deforestation reduces rainfall, and this may turn fertile land into a desert. It also causes a shortage of timber, fuel and fruits. Moreover, the ecological balance is destroyed, and the country faces natural disasters like cyclones and droughts more often. So, we must stop cutting trees without any plan. We should plant more trees and protect our forests to save our environment for the coming generations.
